Day Zero Challenge 1 – Learn a new glass technique

Today I went over to a friend’s with the intention of ticking off my very first day zero challenge and making a (late) christmas present. I decided after some consideration to have a go at glass fusing and make a pair of coasters.

Glass fusing is a really simple technique where pieces of glass are arranged and annealed in a kiln to merge together. The pieces can be used to make coasters, window decorations or pendants. Alternatively, they can be put into the kiln again on a slumping setting using a mould to form something else, such as a bowl.

I have to wait a couple of days for the results since only one coaster will fit into the kiln at once, but here are some pictures of the coasters before they went in to cook
